At this point you can also ask the screener to have your bag inspected in private. This will avoid other travelers pointing fingers when you’re sharing a plane with them for the next six hours.

When asked what ‘this’ is, be honest. Don’t start concocting a story to save face. You could get into some serious trouble with security. It’s not like people don’t know what sex toys are. Just be matter-of-fact about it. Less is more in this case.

Another solution to this security-sex toy dilemma is getting a toy specifically for traveling. Many companies are offering small vibrators that can be discreetly lodged in your purse and might pass for a lipstick. You’ll still want to remove the batteries and store them separately.
